Security officials told official state media early Saturday morning that a blast shook northern Tehran near the headquarters of a state-owned broadcaster.
An unidentified flying object explosion occurred in Melat Park, a vast and popular green space in the capital adjacent to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Headquarters. No casualties were reported, according to Iranian media, and it was unclear whether the explosion was due to an accident or an attack.
“There was only one explosion,” said Hamidreza Gudarji, deputy security director in Qods, in a statement to the Tasnim News Agency.
Asked if this was a terrorist attack, Goudarzi said investigators were on the scene looking into the extent and details of the explosion.
