Croupiers walk off the job at Montreal Casino amid negotiations deadlock


MONTREAL – Croupiers on the Montreal On line casino went on a shock four-hour strike late Saturday afternoon in a present of solidarity amid a negotiations impasse

On the stroke of 4 p.m., croupiers laid their playing cards on the desk and walked out the door to display in entrance of the Notre Dame Island on line casino, denouncing the standstill in discussions over their contract.

The collective settlement, which applies to 521 croupiers, expired March 31, with salaries and schedules among the many points at stake.

The strike was slated to proceed till 8 p.m. Saturday evening, although Loto-Québec, which manages the province’s casinos, says the gaming tables stay open except the poker site, which shut down briefly.

The Canadian Union of Public Workers says negotiations got here to a standstill final weekend.

Loto-Québec says it hopes to proceed discussions with the union alongside related strains to these accepted by worker teams at its different casinos.
