MENLO PARK, Calif. – Fb Inc. says it should give US$159,500 in grants to seven Canadian information publishers to assist them develop their operations.
The U.S. tech big says the grants will vary from US$17,000 to US$25,000 and be given to Glacier Media, Overstory Media Group, Sprawl, the Discourse, the Narwhal, the Tyee and Village Media.
Fb says the cash is supposed to assist information organizations develop their companies, construct on publication methods, maintain their paying supporters and launch new merchandise and different initiatives.
The grants are a part of the Fb Journalism Undertaking Accelerator, a coaching program launched in 2018, after information publishers experiencing sinking promoting revenues pushed for the tech big to share extra of its income.
Fb says Village Media will use its grant to spend money on social media promoting whereas the Discourse, Sprawl and the Narwhal will develop into new markets.
Glacier Media will use its funding to develop and market Endorsed, a advertising providing based mostly on product and repair suggestions for Canadians.
