Self-driving startup Argo AI, automaker Ford Motor and Walmart will collectively launch an autonomous automobile supply service in Miami, Austin, and Washington, DC, the businesses stated on Wednesday.
Preliminary integration testing is anticipated to start later this yr, the businesses added.
The transfer comes as shopper expectations shift to next-day or same-day supply, notably in city areas with a better focus of deliveries.
The multi-city service will enable Walmart prospects to put on-line orders of groceries and different well-liked gadgets for autonomous supply to their properties.
Argo’s cloud-based system will combine with Walmart’s on-line ordering platform to route orders and schedule bundle deliveries. Ford’s self-driving take a look at automobiles with Argo’s self-driving system will then ship the orders to prospects.
