BENGALURU: Veteran cricketer Gopalaswamy Kasturirangan died because of coronary heart assault at his residence right here on Wednesday.
“G Kasturirangan handed away at present morning. He died of coronary heart assault at his residence in Chamarajapet,” Karnataka State Cricket Affiliation (KSCA) Treasurer and Spokesperson, Vinaya Mruthyunjaya, instructed PTI.
Kasturirangan, 89, was a former cricketer-administrator and a BCCI curator.
He had largely performed his matches for Mysore in Ranji Trophy because the right-arm medium tempo bowler from 1948 to 1963, the sources within the cricket fraternity mentioned.
Mourning his demise, famend worldwide cricket participant Anil Kumble tweeted, “Unhappy to listen to concerning the passing of G Kasturirangan. He might be fondly remembered for all his contributions to cricket. Heartfelt condolences to his household.”
In a condolence message, the KSCA mentioned, “President, Secretary and members of the Managing Committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Affiliation deeply remorse the unhappy and sudden demise of former Ranji Participant, Vice President of KSCA and BCCI Curator Sri G Kasturirangan.”
The affiliation mentioned Kasturirangan had represented the then “MYSORE” group within the Ranji Trophy match within the yr 1948 -49 to 1962-63 for Karnataka.
