Govt eases public procurement rules for Covid supplies


NEW DELHI: The government on Friday mentioned it has quickly carried out away with the necessary native content material requirement norms for public procurement of Covid provides.
The commerce and business ministry mentioned the exemption could be relevant until September 30.
“The federal government has exempted the general public procurement of provides required for containment of Covid-19 international pandemic from the applicability of Public Procurement (Choice to Make in India) Order, 2017,” the ministry mentioned in an announcement.
The federal government issued Public Procurement (Choice to Make in India) Order on June 15, 2017 to advertise home manufacturing of products and companies and improve earnings and employment within the nation.
The order geared toward incentivising manufacturing linked by way of native content material necessities to encourage home producers’ participation in public procurement actions over entities merely importing to commerce or assemble objects.
