Nurses in Chicago, across country hold Day of Action Thursday

CHICAGO — Nurses across the country, along with in Chicago, are calling Thursday a Day of Action.

They’re calling for larger staffing and defending gear as a result of the nation’s healthcare system is straining as quickly as as soon as extra from COVID-19 circumstances.

Omicron is responsible for the current wave of infections and hospitalizations. About 7,200 individuals are being hospitalized in Illinois with Covid. Of those, higher than 80 % are unvaccinated.

Gov. JB Pritzker talked about Wednesday he was attempting to help by deploying higher than 2,000 healthcare workers across the state. Some will arrive in the hardest hit areas on Friday.

Nationwide Nurses United, the most important nurses union, says there isn’t a nursing shortage, solely a shortage of nurses ready to work in unsafe circumstances. They want OSHA to make eternal its Covid protections for healthcare workers.
