Navi Mumbai: Nearly 800 potholes in NMMC area, say activists | Navi Mumbai News – Times of India

NAVI MUMBAI: Citizens and activists have estimated that close to 800 potholes have come up on various busy roads within Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation areas. They have urged the civic body to urgently repair them.
“It is unfortunate to see so many potholes on the main arterial roads and also inner lanes in all the eight wards. The roads in the MIDC industrial areas of Rabale, Pawane, are the worst,” said former member of the standing committee Divya Gaikwad. She further estimated that at least 800 potholes are currently seen.
RTI activist Anarjit Chauhan commented: “It’s become rather tricky to drive on these pockmarked roads as the rains have done further damage. Every monsoon, the NMMC only does a flimsy repair job, which is why the potholes are seen regularly.”
He further added that the MIDC areas were handed over to NMMC, but the road conditions are poor.
Potholes are also seen on the famous Palm Beach road.
Civic deputy engineer P Chawre, said: “We are at present filling up the potholes with cold-mix in order to repair the roads. In the MIDC areas, plans to permanently concretise the roads is also afoot.”
