One dead, one injured in fire at Garden Grove residential rehabilitation facility

One individual died and one other was injured Sunday in a fire at a Garden Grove rehabilitation facility, the Orange County Fire Authority mentioned.

When officers arrived in the 13000 block of Jefferson Avenue round 8 p.m., they discovered “heavy fire from a second-story window,” OCFA Capt. Nolan McGaughy instructed OnScene.TV.

The 2-story home is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, he mentioned. In keeping with property data, it has at least eight bedrooms.

Firefighters have been in a position to confine the blaze to one bed room upstairs, OCFA mentioned in a tweet. One individual was pronounced useless at the scene.

A second individual, described solely as a lady, was discovered injured on the entrance garden, though it was not clear whether or not she had any reference to the property or was simply passing by. She was taken to a hospital for minor accidents, OCFA spokesman Sean Doran mentioned Monday morning.

Video of the scene confirmed ambulance lights, warning tape and a singed exterior above an upper-level window the place the fire lapped at the construction.

Officers mentioned as many as 12 folks have been displaced by the fire and have been being assisted by the American Pink Cross of Southern California.

“Smoke alarms weren’t current and/or working,” OCFA mentioned in a tweet.

The reason for the fire stays below investigation, Doran mentioned
